Berlin’s culinary landscape 25 years after the fall of the Wall

West Berlin? East Berlin? Berlin!
Those exploring the German capital today need a keen eye to track down vestiges of the infamous Berlin Wall. Since it was demolished 25 years ago, the city has become a hip, creative and colorful metropolis that’s a far cry from the Cold War-era sea of grey. And this new edginess is also reflected in its gastro scene.

“The Wall“ tour takes you on a culinary journey from the past to the present. Sample Broiler (roast chicken) Senfeier (mustard eggs), Club-Cola and Muckefuck coffee in an authentic East Berlin location. Find out why the best Russian food like pelmeni and borscht can still be found in the eastern city districts or why Vietnamese food is especially popular there.

Then jump ahead and find out what Berlin eats today. For instance, fusion cusine - in the truest sense of the word. Creative venues for artists, starts-ups and unique restaurant concepts have sprouted right where the Wall‘s demise left behind plenty of empty land and buildings. Our tour will give you a taste of the new Berlin without borders. Let an experienced insider guide show you the latest restaurant hot-spots in former industrial complexes in both eastern and western Berlin, in Bauhaus-style socialist buildings from the 1920s, at former border crossings and along the Spree River that once served a border between the two city halves. Along the way, you’ll be peppered with intriguing tidbits and stories about this fascinating city.
